Steps for Sleep
For the third consecutive year, Minneapolis nonprofit My Very Own Bed will host its annual Steps for Sleep–a walk and wellness fundraising event highlighting the connection between physical activity and healthy sleep while raising awareness and funds for its work providing new beds and Dream Kits to kids. Community Methodist Church of Columbia Heights will hold their annual Salad Luncheon on Saturday, April 29, 11 am-1 pm. Again this year, it will be a take out/drive-thru event. Russ White has maintained a studio in the Casket Arts Building in Northeast Minneapolis since 2014. The NE Kiwanis will resume their annual pancake breakfast at the Northeast Armory, 1025 Broadway St. NE. All-you-can-eat pancakes with two fruit toppings, whipped cream, world-famous Sentyrz sausage and blueberry muffins. Sunday, April 30, 7 am-1 pm. Registration is now open for Northeast Park Neighborhood Association's spring Bean Bag Tournament on Sunday, April 30, at Sociable Cider Werks, 1500 Fillmore St. NE, 1-3 pm. Put a two-person team together and join them. The cost is just $20 and it goes to support the Northeast Park Neighborhood Association. Sociable Cider Werks will also contribute $1 for every beverage purchased during the tournament to the neighborhood association. Register at nepna.org.

Weed It & Sweep
Gather your coworkers, neighbors, family and friends together and help clean up your corner of Minneapolis. Volunteers pick up debris near local businesses, on sidewalks, in area parks and around neighborhood streets. The Northeast Minneapolis Chamber will supply vests, gloves, garbage bags and area assignments. The annual St. Anthony Village Patriots Marching Band Garage Sale will occur Saturday, May 6, 8 am-6 pm and Sunday, May 7, 9 am-3 pm. Location: St. Anthony Village High School (lower gym), 3303 33rd Ave. NE, St. Anthony. Donations will be accepted at the same location 9 am-9 pm Wednesday, May 3 and Thursday, May 4. Signs will be posted for drop-off and help unloading your gently used clothing, furniture, sporting goods, toys and household items.
