HeighsNEXT along with the Columbia Heights Library will host the documentary "Plastic People" on Thursday, June 12, 6:30 pm in the Columbia Heights Library community room, 3939 Central Ave NE. This ground-breaking feature documentary "Plastic People: The Hidden Crisis of Microplastics" investigates our addiction to plastic and the growing threat of microplastics on human health.

Nicollet Island, or Wita Waste in Dakota, lies just above St. Anthony Falls, next to downtown Minneapolis, and is the site of the first bridge anywhere across the Mississippi River. The 40-acre island was developed as a microcosm of early Minneapolis, with water-powered factories, storefronts, block-long rowhouses, a mansion district and a neighborhood that still stands as a sampler of the 19th century residential architecture. A wide variety of balance, strength and flexibility movements will be incorporated into this fun and social group class. No cost. Pre-registration is helpful for planning purposes but not required. The River Rats water skiing team is back on the Mississippi River, providing free shows on Thursday nights throughout the summer. Pre-show at 6:30, performance at 7 pm, until August, when pre-show starts at 6:15 and performance at 6:45. Dates are May 29; June 5, 12, 19 and 26; July 3, 10, 17, 23 and 24 (Aquatennial warmup and performance) and 31; Aug. 8, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 and 28.
