Casket Cinema, 681 17th Ave. NE, #145, in the old Northwestern Casket Building, will kick off its 11th season with a special Friday night screening, Sept. 14, at 8 pm (doors at 7:30 pm), of the documentaries “8 Billion Angels” and “To Kid or Not To Kid,” two films which are in post-production and will be premiering at festivals next year.

Saturday, September 15, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Waite Park Recreation Center, 1810 - 34th Avenue NE. Teams from all over Northeast Minneapolis will have a chance to take home the title of Pushcart Champion as well as a total of $400 in prize money! Kohlman & Pryor Gallery presents "Reveal and Conceal: Encaustic Paintings and Sculptures. Curated by gallery artist, Jodi Reeb, Reveal and Conceal is an exploration into encaustic (molten beeswax). Through paintings and sculptures, it delves into encaustic's potential, possibilities, and aesthetic concerns. Artists Helen Dannelly, Jeffrey Hirst, Jodi Reeb and Julie Snidle are represented. The show opens Saturday, Sept. 15, 7-9 pm at the Northrup King Building, 1500 Jackson Street NE. The exhibit runs through October 27 .
