Newgate 50th Anniversary
Nonprofit Newgate School, 2900 E. Hennepin Ave., will celebrate its 50th year of offering free mechanic school training to underserved young adults on Saturday, Aug. 2, 10 am-2 pm. The event will include a car show, music, food trucks, awards, raffles and kids' activities. Suggested donation: $10.

Zen priest Genpo Michael O'Neal will present key themes of Zen practice in the context of the Wizard of Oz, followed by a showing of the classic film in a rare Technicolor print screened at only a few theaters in the country.
