Free virtual gardening and cooking series
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board will offer free virtual gardening and cooking classes this summer for ages 18 and up from its Creekview Recreation Center. Courtney Tchida with the Minnesota Horticulture Society will share gardening tips and plans for the early, middle, and late parts of the season. Beth Jones, co-owner of Cooking With the Jones Sisters, and Campus Club executive chef, will offer recipes and kitchen techniques to show off your produce at its peak. You are welcome…

HeightsNext presents the first annual Art in the Park festival, taking place at Kordiak Park, 1845 49th Ave NE on Saturday, Sept. 11, 10 am-6 pm featuring dozens of local artists, performers, and vendors. Art in the Park strives to create an environment of respect, caring, compassion and creativity. This means that the art festival embraces all cultures, displaying respect for all genders, nationalities, ethnicities, body sizes and abilities, as well as sexual orientations. Free.

On Saturday, Sept. 11, 10-11 am. you can contribute to clean water by learning how to install a raingarden at Trillium Park, 2800 Highway 88 in St. Anthony Village. Columbia Heights' first art festival will take place Saturday, Sept. 11, 10 am-6 pm at Kordiak Park, 1845 49th Avenue NE. The event will include 50 artists, ranging from painters to woodturners. A performance area will feature a singer/songwriter, tap dancers and bellydancers. Food trucks will be on hand, and there will be an arts and crafts area for kids. Admission is free. NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) offers a free online educational course that helps families and friends learn about mental illnesses, the brain, treatment, and resources to help a loved one living with a mental illness.
