Help build Logan Performance Pavilion
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, Logan Park Neighborhood Association and local non-profit Spark-Y are partnering in a project to create a new timber frame shelter at the north side of Logan Park, 690 13th Ave. NE, next to the recreation center patio. St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 2739 Stinson Blvd. NE, will host Memorial Blood Bank on Monday, Aug. 23, 1:30 to-6:30 pm in Doran Hall. There is a constant need for blood; Minnesota hospitals use 700-800 units of blood each day for victims of trauma, or burns, surgical patients and cancer patients. The City of Minneapolis Public Works Department will host an online open house Tuesday, Aug. 24, 4-6 pm to gather community feedback and provide updates on improving the public realm for the Upper Harbor Terminal project site in north Minneapolis. Improvements will include a multi-modal transportation system and public utilities to support community access to the Upper Harbor Terminal Project and the Mississippi River. CIRCA Gallery presents light under the stones, Karian Amaya’s first solo show with the gallery. Amaya, Guadalajara, Mexico, explores the delicate condition of matter through an eco-sculptural lens. Using primarily copper and found marble fragments, Amaya reflects on the ecological changes that occur after minerals are extracted from their natural environment. The Columbia Heights High School Key Club is hosting their annual compost fundraiser, called Plate to Garden, during gardening season at the Columbia Heights Recycling Center, Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm.
