Silverwood Park, 2500 Co. Rd. E, will host three art events this fall. The Silverwood Park gallery is open daily from 9 am – 5 pm. All are welcome, including families and children. Free to the public. No registration required.
Understory, Stephanie Hunder: Through Sept. 30. Inspired by memories of growing up in Minnesota’s woodlands and prairies, Hunder’s work often begins with forms and textures drawn from the landscape, via printmaking and photography. These documents are layered with conceptual diagrams, a study of our relationship to the natural world. In this exhibition, delicate shapes and patterns from the forest understory are recorded and combined with scientific and mathematical constructs used to understand growth, complexity, and the use of space.
Hinterland, Pattie Chalmers: Through Nov. 30. Hinterland, a wild and unexplored place. The work in this exhibition is an expression of memory, loss, and longing prompted by a fall into unfamiliar emotional surroundings. These clay vessels and sculptures were made as a reflection of walks in the boreal forest with Chalmers’ father. Hinterland invites viewers to explore their connection to place and memories and emotions they might encounter there.
Ready, Set, GIF: Oct. 10-Nov. 30. Opening reception: Thursday, Oct. 10, 6-8 pm. This group show of 21 artists and animators explores motion through hand-drawn GIFs using a template created by Trygve Nordberg, creator of www.eatmy.art.
