Nonprofit needed for Art-A-Whirl raffle
Local Deaf artist Kaylah Vogt seeks a nonprofit sponsor for an art raffle during Art-A-Whirl. Proceeds will support her family, who are all out of work caring for her grandmother after a major stroke. Minnesota law requires raffles to be run through a nonprofit. Kaylah will handle the artwork, promotion and logistics. If interested in partnering, contact kaylahvogt.network@gmail.com. Kaylah will donate a percentage to the nonprofit for partnering.

Compassionate Ocean Zen Center, 652 17th Ave. NE, will offer a free two-part Introduction to Zen Practice mini-course. Held consecutive Mondays, May 5 & 12, 7-9 pm, these classes will consist of a combination of discussion about Zen and its place in Buddhism, some information about Compassionate Ocean Zen Center and instruction in sitting meditation. Lili Lennox draws inspiration from the vast backdrops she once painted in her career as a theatrical scenic artist. Using the same techniques, her paintings dive into a realm where highly saturated colors converge with the Minnesota landscape, depicting luminous trees and brooding skies infused with unconventional hues.
