Art and Science on the River: Carp
Saturday, April 13, 10 am–12:30 pm, Mississippi Watershed Management Organization, 2522 Marshall St. NE. This workshop will start with an informative presentation from Colleen O’Connor Toberman, a local expert on carp in the Mississippi River. Artist Kimberly Boustead will demonstrate carp printing with a few different types of carp, and then participants will have time to try their hand at carp printing, carp-inspired drawing and creative writing. Get help with your broken stuff and learn valuable repair skills at an upcoming Fix-It Clinic. At the clinic, you’ll get guided assistance from volunteers with repair skills to disassemble, troubleshoot, and (hopefully) fix small household appliances, clothing, electronics, mobile devices and more. 12-4 pm, with the last items accepted at 3:30 pm. This event is for those who self-identify as LGBTQIA2S+, or as allies of the queer community. Together with the guidance of Friends of the Mississippi River staff, volunteers will dig in to tend to grasses and wildflowers which provide examples of native prairie plantings to park users. St. Mary’s Taste of Northeast Festival
Friday, Sept. 20 and Saturday, Sept. 21. St. Mary's Orthodox Cathedral, 1701 5th St. NE.
