Toy Train Show and Swap Meet
Join the Lakes and Pines Division of the Train Collectors Association (TCA) for a toy train show and swap meet on Sunday, March 12, 12:15-2:30 pm at Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St. NE. See toy trains in action as well as toy train displays. Toy trains of different gauges will also be for sale. Train doctors will be on hand for simple repairs. Hot Dash, the running event with a food reward at the end, will be held Saturday, March 25, starting at 8 am at Boom Island Park, 724 Sibley St. NE. 5K runners start at 8:45, 10-milers at 9:15. Kids running the Tater Trot start at 10:30. Sample various hotdishes, toast some marshmallows, take a chance on a meat raffle. Egg hunt at Waite Park
Waite Park Church and the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board have teamed up to hide 5,000 Easter eggs in Waite Park, 1810 34th Ave NE, on Saturday, April 8, 9:30 am-12 pm. The Great River Coalition will hold its 8th annual Earth Day 5K Bee Run/Walk/River Cleanup at Boom Island Park in Minneapolis on Saturday, April 22, 9 am-12 pm. HeightsNEXT has organized a spring cleanup on Central Ave. Volunteers meet Saturday, April 22, 9 am in the parking lot of the Columbia Heights Public Library, 3939 Central Ave. NE. Audubon Spring Festival
"The Mississippi River and Our Relationship With It" is the theme of the Audubon Neighborhood Association's Spring Festival, Saturday, May 6, 11 am-4 pm at Audubon Park, 1320 29th Ave. NE. The Mississippi Watershed Management Organization gave the neighborhood a grant to put on the festival, which will provide a look at the river's history and current status.
