A jigsaw competition, a collaboration between St. Anthony Community Services and Silverwood Park will take place Sunday, Feb. 23, 3-5 pm at Silverwood Park, 2500 County Rd. E, St Anthony Teams of up to four will race against the clock to complete a 500-piece puzzle in 2 hours, with volunteer judges tracking progress and prizes for top finishers. Minneapolis Parks & Recreation is offering a new workshop, "I Was Just Diagnosed With Alzheimer's (AD), Now What the Heck Do I Do?" Presented by an ex-teacher who was diagnosed with AD 18 months ago. There is almost no support for people who are newly diagnosed with AD; support from the medical community or insurance companies typically doesn't begin until 3-5 years after diagnosis. Art and Science on the River: Buckthorn
Saturday, March 8, 10 am-12:30 pm, Mississippi Watershed Management Organization, 2522 Marshall St. NE. Gather around a fire to make buckthorn charcoal from buckthorn branches harvested from the banks of the Mississippi River. Unveil, a fashion show put on by students graduating from the University of Minnesota's apparel program, will be held Saturday, March 22 at The Whim, 655 19th Ave. NE.
