“Aloft”
Andrew Wykes combined extreme aerial viewpoints taken by a drone with images from our everyday point of view to challenge our understanding of the traditional landscape. “Open Screen: The Forum”
Public Functionary, 1500 Jackson St. NE, presents "Open Screen: The Forum," a free three-week program that combines screenings, workshops, panels and scenic installation, May 1-18. Film screenings include "All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt," the debut feature by Raven Jackson which traces the life of a Black woman in Mississippi through quiet, poetic scenes — holding space for memory, grief and love. Friday, May 2, 7-9 pm. This immersive and interactive exhibition celebrates the legacy of the California Building, from the exodus of the downtown art scene to NE Minneapolis starting in 1991. The California Building became the first factory in Northeast Minneapolis dedicated entirely to workspace for artists.
