Scrolling Through Adolescence: Helping Teens Thrive Online: Wednesday, Sept. 23, 5-6 pm. Is social media helping or hurting today’s teens? Explore the research about how teens use social media and its impact on their development and well-being. Parents and caregivers will learn practical strategies to support healthy digital habits, strengthen communication, and help teens navigate the digital world with confidence. Presenter Jodi Dworkin is a professor and extension specialist at the University of Minnesota in the Department of Family Social Science. She has been studying families and technology use for more than 20 years.

Finding Frankenstein with the Bakken Museum: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 5:30-6:15 pm. What led the mother of science fiction to write the novel “Frankenstein” at the age of 18? Learn about the science and culture of the early 1800s from Mary Shelley herself in an interactive performance, perfect for exploring the history of science and electricity, or those seeking a discussion of science in society in the past, present, or the future. This program is funded by MELSA.
Climate Change in Our Own Backyard: Monday, Oct. 19, 5:30-6:30 pm. Climate Change in Our Own Backyards is a presentation about specific evidence of climate change in the state of Minnesota exemplified in historical climate trends, as well as observed consequences and impacts. There are also illustrations of climate adaptation efforts in recent years, as well as efforts to mitigate the pace of climate change.
