Baby Storytime: For children birth-24 months and their caregivers. Talk, sing, read, write, and play together. Share books, stories, rhymes, music and movement in a format especially designed for babies. Siblings welcome. Fridays, 9:30-10 am.

Family Storytime: For children birth-5 years old and their caregivers. Talk, sing, read, write and play together. Share books, stories, rhymes, music, and movement. Siblings welcome. Fridays, 11-11:30 am.

Chess Club: All ages and skill levels are welcome. Learn the basics of chess, improve your game, master strategies, and meet other chess fans. Equipment provided. Welcome walk-ins. Thursdays, 4:30-6:30 pm.

Business Consultations/Consulta de Negocios: A representative from the City of Minneapolis will meet with business owners and entrepreneurs to share resources and assist those who want to start, maintain or expand a business in the City of Minneapolis (e.g. financing, city regulations and business technical assistance). Assistance is available in English and Spanish. Asistencia disponible en inglés y español. Collaborator: City of Minneapolis Small Business Team. No appointment necessary. 2^nd Thursday of the month, 2-4 pm.

Coffee and Conversations: Join library staff and fellow patrons for relaxed conversation over coffee and tea. Feel free to bring a craft to work on, book to read, or game to play. Sponsor: Friends of the Hennepin County Library.  2^nd Tuesday of the month, 10-11 am.

Baile latino para niños / Latin Dance for Kids:
Los niños y sus padres o sus cuidadores se conectarán entre sí a través de la participación en bailes latinos como la salsa, la bachata y el merengue. Este programa de baile fomenta el movimiento y la autoexpresión, y crea recuerdos imborrables para las familias. El programa está dirigido a familias con niños de 2 a 6 años (los hermanitos son bienvenidos). La clase se impartirá en español e inglés. Colaborador: Nela Dance. Este programa es financiado por el Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Children and their caregivers bond by engaging in Latin dances–salsa, bachata and merengue. This dance program encourages movement and self-expression, and creates core memories for families and is intended for families with children between the ages of 2-6 (siblings welcome). LEGO® Lab: Calling all future engineers and architects! The library has the bricks, you bring your imagination. No experience necessary. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2-4 pm.

Connect and Play: For children of all ages and their caregivers. Connect with your child during this drop-in program exploring early literacy activities. No registration required. Sponsor: Friends of the Hennepin County Library. Saturday, Sept. 19 and 26, 9:30-11:30 am.

Read With an Animal: K-grade 5. Cuddle up with a certified therapy dog and practice reading aloud. Sign up when you arrive for a 15-minute slot. First come, first served. Collaborator: PAWS to READ is a program of North Star Therapy Animals (NTSA). All handlers are required to be trained in an additional children’s reading program that focuses on utilizing registered therapy animals. Saturday, Oct. 3, 1-2:30 pm.

Medicare Counseling: Get free help answering your Medicare questions with Minnesota Aging Pathways. Registration is required and can be done at metroaging.org/get-help/medicare. Choose to make an in-person appointment, select Northeast Library and a date/time. Or call Minnesota Aging Pathways at 800-333-2433. Registration closes four days before the date. Writing as a Profession: Taming the Manuscript: Through exercises and exploration of successful writers’ revision strategies, learn how to revisit your manuscript with confidence, not fear. Receive valuable feedback on a portion of your revised draft from your peers and the teaching artist. Part of a four-part series, “Writing as a Profession.” Attendance at all four sessions not required. Collaborator: The Loft Literary Center. Funded by Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Call for Emerging Artists: The Northeast Library seeks new and emerging artists for temporary art exhibits. They have funding to support individual artist exhibitions ($250/individual) or group shows ($500/organization) as well as non-stipend opportunities all year round.
