Returning for a second year, HeightsNEXT, in partnership with Top Valu Liquor, is bringing back its Cheers for Beers fundraiser Fri, May 17, 6-9 pm at Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St NE in Columbia Heights. More than 35 breweries will help the event live up to its name, and all brews poured at the event will be available for purchase at each of the three Top Valu municipal liquor stores in town. A silent auction will assist in fundraising and a DJ will provide music. There will also be food trucks on-site. Local breweries and cider houses will compete for a “Best Local Brew” award. Tickets for this 21+ event are $35 at any Columbia Heights Top Valu Liquor store or online at cheersforbeersmn.com. Tickets are $40 at the door. Ticket includes a sampling glass and unlimited beer-tastings. HeightsNEXT will provide $5 vouchers for discounted Lyft rides home.
On Wednesday, April 3, 3-11 pm, Feline Rescue invites you to drink beer for a great cause at Indeed Brewing Company, 711 15th Ave. NE. Order a round or two, and wave your paws in the air knowing the evening’s net proceeds will be donated to Feline Rescue as part of the “Indeed We Can” charitable initiative. This is the fourth year Feline Rescue has been a beneficiary of “Indeed We Can,” and the event is one of the highest attended in the series.
Guests will enjoy cat-themed scratch-offs, door prizes, eats from Simply Steve’s food truck, and a slide show video loop about Feline Rescue and the work the organization does to give cats happy, healthy lives. The first in a series of NEMAA art nights at Bauhaus Brew Labs, they welcome NEMAA member and origami artist Jade Huynh to demonstrate and teach her intricate origami designs. Participants will learn how to fold their own origami and be able to take home their creations, all while enjoying Bauhaus beer, mingling with other artists and art lovers, and catching up with the NEMAA board. Come meet Jade, and learn a new skill in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. This special event is part of “On the Haus,” Bauhaus Brew Labs’ program to support their wider community. $1 of every beer purchased will be donated to NEMAA to help fund the operational costs that make Art-A-Whirl possible.
