Open Streets Northeast is August 5
The Northeast version of Open Streets will be Sunday, August 5. The route will run along Central Avenue from north of Lowry to 18-1/2 Avenue NE, from Central along 22nd Avenue NE to Monroe Street, and Monroe Street to East Hennepin. Hours are 11 am to 5 pm. Catholic Eldercare will host a free presentation on Monday, August 6, 1:30-3 pm at the MainStreet Lodge, 909 Main St. NE. The 555-foot Washington Monument stands proudly in the center of the National Mall in Washington, DC. Building the monument involved disagreements about the design, political infighting, inability to raise money, and a 22-year interruption in the building phase. Eco-Kids Camp, organized by Faith, Community, and Northeast United Methodist Churches, will be held August 6–9 (Monday–Thursday), 9 am–4 pm. Children entering grades 3-6 are welcome! Students will learn about and from wolves this year. Camp includes field trips to Silverwood Park and the Wildlife Science Center. Other camp activities will include science and art.
