Picking up where they left off in March 2020, the Northeast Community Band will present their "March" concert Thursday, Oct. 21, at Elim Church, 685 13th Ave. NE. Director Tim Martin will give the downbeat for the concert, which consists entirely of marches, at 7 pm. Audience members are asked to be masked (as will the band) and vaccinated, and a list will be kept for contact tracing. The concert is free.

The Midwest Polka Association (MPA) invites the community to enjoy an evening of polkas, waltzes and obereks at Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St. NE, on Friday, Oct. 22, 7-11 pm. Polish American Cultural Institute of Minnesota (PACIM) will hold its annual soup tasting festival Sunday, Oct. 24, 11 am-4 pm at Kolbe Hall in St. John Paul II School, 1630 4th St. NE. Seven ethnic soups will be available: Żurek (sour rye), mushroom (vegetarian), bigos (hunters' stew), vegetable (vegan), tomato, dill pickle, and Barszcz (borscht). The Pure Water School of Dance begins its 10-week fall session, beginning the week of October 26 with Children's Ballet and Tap Classes. Adult Beginning Ballet and Afro-Modern Dance for ages 16 to adult are also offered. Jacob Nehrbass will teach tap.
