The Northrup King Building begins the season with a September Northrup King Night–a seasonal open studio event offering visitors four hours to explore four floors of art studios, fun boutiques and unique local businesses. Multiple gallery openings including Evolving Expressions, a community exhibition featuring artists throughout the building. Potter’s Pasties food truck will be present. Saturday, Sept. 23, 5-9 pm. Following a Sept. 18 update at Beltrami Park, a merger vote will take place 6:30 pm Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the Northeast Park recreation center, 1530 Johnson St. NE. The merger will be considered a yes vote by a 51% approval from members of the Beltrami, Logan Park and Northeast Park neighborhoods.

NE Community Band presents “Autumn Colors” at South High
The Northeast Community Band will perform its first concert of the 2023-24 season on Thursday, Nov. 2, 7 pm at South High School, 3131 19th Ave. S. Selections will include Eric Whitaker's "October," Travis Cross' "And the grass sings in the meadows" and "Nobles of the Mystic Shrine" by John Philip Sousa, among others. Free.

Using haptics and nonlanguage communication, with her show, "Contemplations in Patterns and Textures," Kelly Jean Ohl exhibits large intricately carved ceramic pieces that provide a unique sensory experience. These new pieces were designed specifically for the Kolman & Reeb Gallery using resources provided to her by her Project Space Grant. The exhibition runs through Jan. 6, 2024. The ever-popular Northeast Calendar is now available for pickup at a location near you. It contains images created by 12 Northeast artists. The Northeast Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Northeast Celebration Thursday, Nov. 30, 4:30-6 pm at Jax Cafe, 1928 University Ave. NE. Friends of the Northeast Library book sale
Friday, Dec. 8, 9 am-5 pm and Saturday, Dec. 9, 9am-4 pm. Most books are $1. Bag Sale on Saturday from 2-4 pm, $5. Literary gift baskets will be available. Proceeds benefit Hennepin County Library, 2200 Central Ave. NE. Book donations are accepted during library open hours.
