St. Mary’s Taste of Northeast Festival
Friday, Sept. 26, 5-9 pm and Saturday, Sept. 27, 11 am-7 pm. St. Mary's Orthodox Cathedral, 1701 5th St. NE. Enjoy local ethnic foods including perohi and holubki, pulled pork and lamb sandwiches as well as offerings from food trucks. Fairest Follies
Fairest Follies is an original one-act comedy written and directed by local Catholic playwright J.J.P. Niemann of St. Clement Cathloic Church. This farce reworks Shakespearean devices to tell the story of the Princess Brook, a frustrated artist and the last heir to the kingdom of Bacchalia, whose domineering aunt is utterly determined to restore the royal house by marrying her off to a suitable nobleman--no matter who he is. Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church, 1509 27th Ave. NE, serves free community meals on the first Saturday of each month. Meals are served in the church basement 5:30-7 pm. The next meals will be served Oct. 4, Nov. 1, Dec. 6.
