Nature: Essential to our health and wellbeing: Wednesday, Sept. 17, 5:30-6:30 pm. Looking for a sense of well-being? A simple method to find happiness and contentment? Connecting with nature is essential to human health and well-being. In nature, we can feel connected, energized, content and resilient. How do we connect with nature? Why is connecting even more important today? Learn the history and science of how time spent with nature helps to improve our physical and mental well-being. Build an awareness of how we can involve all our senses. Explore and practice ways we can interact with nature even in Minnesota winters. Learn how even simple things like houseplants can play a role. Registration required; registration opens 4 weeks in advance.

Great North Star Read Together: Saturday, Sept. 20, 11 am-1 pm. Celebrate libraries in Minnesota with the Great North Star Read Together. Bring your current read, whatever is next on your TBR, your favorite comfort read or find something new at the library and settle in for some reading. Minnesotans are invited to gather at designated host sites to show support for all libraries and the vital role they play in our communities. Senior Puzzle Challenge: Thursday, Sept. 25, 10:30 am-12:30 pm. Register in teams of one to four people for a puzzle contest at the library. Complete a 300-piece puzzle in the time allotted to be eligible for the prize drawing and bragging rights. Brought to you by the Friends of the Columbia Heights Library. This event is geared toward seniors, but all adults are welcome. Getting Started with Library Databases: Tuesday, Sept. 30, 4:30-6 pm. Drop in between 4:30-6 to explore the amazing databases the library offers. Librarians will be available for one-on-one assistance to help you learn about and access resources like Kanopy for streaming; HelpNow for homework support; CreativeBug for arts instruction and inspiration; and LearningExpress Library for test preparation, skill building, and career resources, and more. Remember to bring your library card and PIN. This program is best for parents and adults.
