Alzheimer’s Workshop

Minneapolis Parks & Recreation is offering a new workshop, “I Was Just Diagnosed With Alzheimer’s (AD) or Mild Cognitive Impairment, Now What?” Presented by an ex-teacher who was diagnosed with AD. There is almost no support for people who are newly diagnosed with AD; support from the medical community or insurance companies typically doesn’t begin until 3-5 years after diagnosis. This workshop is for people who have an actual diagnosis of AD or Mild Cognitive Impairment. Topics to be covered include: basic FAQs about AD, tips and tricks for living with the disease and concrete work-arounds to stave off the impact of the most common AD symptoms, for as long as possible.
