Celebrate Earth Day at MWMO Stormwater Park and Learning Center, 2522 Marshall St. NE. Join author and muralist Katie Yamasaki as she celebrates the release of her newest picture book, Ripples. The event will include a short talk from Yamasaki and Michelle Spangler from the Mississippi Watershed sharing tips of what you can do to keep the Mississippi River clean, along with kid-friendly activities, and a book signing (with sales from Wild Rumpus Bookstore). HeightsNEXT invites community members to participate in its annual Spring Street Cleanup on Saturday, April 25, 9 am, in celebration of Earth Day. Volunteers will gather at the Columbia Heights Public Library, 3939 Central Ave. NE, before heading out to clean Central Avenue and local parks. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring gloves and sturdy footwear. HeightsNEXT will provide safety vests, tools, and collection bags.
