There are bird counts, and there are bike counts. Volunteers are needed to count the number of bicyclists and pedestrians at several locations around Minneapolis and surrounding Hennepin County. The main days for counting will be September 11-13. All count shifts are from 4 to 6 pm. Bicyclist and pedestrian counts are conducted to understand the impact of nonmotorized traffic on streets, sidewalks, and trails. Casket Cinema, 681 17th Ave. NE, #145, in the old Northwestern Casket Building, will kick off its 11th season with a special Friday night screening, Sept. 14, at 8 pm (doors at 7:30 pm), of the documentaries “8 Billion Angels” and “To Kid or Not To Kid,” two films which are in post-production and will be premiering at festivals next year.

Saturday, September 15, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Waite Park Recreation Center, 1810 - 34th Avenue NE.
