Nicollet Island cleanup and celebration
The Friends of the Mississippi River will host a cleanup and celebration at Nicollet Island July 11, 11 am-2 pm. Volunteers will collect trash from the shoreline and from the forested areas of Nicollet Island to prevent pollution and improve water quality in the Mississippi River. Anoka County is conducting a transit needs study and is reaching out to area businesses and residents –– people who use transit and those who do not –– for feedback. Those who complete a survey for the study, found at https://anoka-transit-wsbeng.hub.arcgis.com/, can enter a drawing to win a $100 gift card to a local retailer of their choosing. The survey will be available until the end of September.

Quilters sought for CH Centennial quilt
When the City of Columbia Heights turns 100 in 2021, a commemorative quilt will be on display. A community quilting group will assemble it this fall. Centennial planners ask residents to share their favorite part of Columbia Heights.
