Entries sought for Strike Theater One-Minute Film Festival
Calling all poets, storytellers, comics, sketch-writers, and more to star in your own reel in the First Annual Strike Theater One-Minute Film Festival. The festival will consist of 30 one-minute video entries. Tune in to TPT2 at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, to watch Theater Latte Da's production, "All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914." The award-winning "docu-musical" was filmed at Theater Latte Da, 314 13th Avenue NE, last year. It recreates a moment in history when Allied and German soldiers laid down their arms to celebrate Christmas by trading carols, sharing food and drink, playing soccer and burying the dead.

Madweyaashkaa: Waves Can Be Heard–postponed
This year's Illuminate the Lock project features Madweyaashkaa: Waves Can Be Heard by Moira Villiard. COVID-19 has taken down another holiday tradition, the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train. CP Rail announced the decorated train, which traditionally stops in various cities collecting food and money for local food shelves, will not make its run through the Northeast area this year. Instead, CP will donate $1.24 million to 201 food banks in communities across the U.S. and Canada that ordinarily host the train. Illuminate The Lock: Madweyaashkaa: Waves Can Be Heard, originally scheduled for Dec. 10-12, has been postponed until February 2021. Organizers for the show at the St. Anthony Lock & Dam said, "We recognize that COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Minnesota, and this event falls between two holidays that may cause further spread. Students at DeLaSalle High School have put together a pre-recorded Christmas concert, paired with a dramatic production of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol."
