Join park ranger Sharon Stiteler (aka Birdchick) to welcome back the great blue herons near Marshall Terrace Park, 2740 Marshall Street NE, on Saturday, March 28, 1-3 p.m. Use binoculars and a spotting scope to watch them rebuild nests and do a little flirting. If you're lucky, you might see the resident peregrine falcons fly over, as well as migrating ducks like buffleheads and goldeneye. Sponsored by Mississippi Park Connection.

Mississippi National River and Recreation Area rangers host virtual 'Coffee with a Ranger' sessions on Tuesday and Friday at 10 am Central Time, through a live video stream on the park's Facebook page. Offered by the UMN Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Take a self-guided tour that identifies 40 historic sites around the area. Some of these sites are now mill ruins; others have become apartments and restaurants. This tour is about three miles long, so prepare appropriately (carry plenty of water).
