Columbia Heights Jamboree
The Columbia Heights Lions Club will hosting the annual Jamboree Thursday, June 26, through Sunday, June 29, at Huset Park, 3965 Jefferson St. NE. Thursday night the City Knights band will entertain. Friday night the parade kicks off at 6 pm, and the DNR Band will play after the parade ends. Lower NE Neighborhoods Association (LNENA) will hosting their annual NE Park Fest in partnership with the Minneapolis Parks Department. This event centers around community members engaging together to access entertainment, food, information and resources. Nonprofit Newgate School, 2900 E. Hennepin Ave., will celebrate its 50th year of offering free mechanic school training to underserved young adults on Saturday, Aug. 2, 10 am-2 pm. The event will include a car show, music, food trucks, awards, raffles and kids' activities. Suggested donation: $10.

The National Wildlife Federation’s Mayors’ Monarch Pledge encourages communities to create habitats for the monarch butterfly and other pollinators and educate residents about how to make a difference.
