River Rats water skiing shows
The River Rats water skiing team is back on the Mississippi River, providing free shows on Thursday nights throughout the summer. Pre-show at 6:30, performance at 7 pm, until August, when pre-show starts at 6:15 and performance at 6:45. Dates are May 29; June 5, 12, 19 and 26; July 3, 10, 17, 23 and 24 (Aquatennial warmup and performance) and 31; Aug. 8, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 and 28.

Bring a blanket or lawn chair to Huset Park, 3965 Jefferson St. NE, Friday, Aug. 15 to view "The Wizard of Oz." Free popcorn is available at all movies while supplies last. Movie starts at 8:30 pm.

Polish Picnic open to the community is on Aug. 16, 12-6 pm at Huset Park West, 530 Mill St. NE, There will be Polish food for purchase, Dolina Polish Folk Dancers, music provided by Craig Ebel Polka Band and Joe Macko on accordion. Children and adult crafts, Polish movies and more. Sponsored by Columbia Heights and its Sister City Łomianki and the Polish American Cultural Institute of Minnesota (PACIM) and other Polish organizations. Local author Isaiah Allen will read from his book A Smile, about a young black boy who discovers the transformative power of a smile. The first five families that arrive will receive a free copy of his signed book.
