Pulling invasive plants
Volunteers are needed for a final (for this year) “invasive plant pull” Saturday, Oct. 15, 10 am-noon along the Sheridan Memorial Park at 13th Avenue and the Mississippi. Sponsored by Sheridan Neighborhood Organization and the Northeaster. People who run or walk by the river, will eventually benefit from a better view and more pollinators. Zen Center Open House
Compassionate Ocean Zen Center, 652 17th Ave. NE, invites neighbors and those curious about Zen to attend an open house on Friday, Nov. 4, 7-9 pm. They offer opportunities for meditation practice and retreats, weekly talks, and classes on Buddhist teachings. Programs in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) are held four times a year. Visitors can tour the center, learn about programs, and meet Guiding Teachers. All are welcome. Masks required while inside the building.

Audubon Spring Festival
"The Mississippi River and Our Relationship With It" is the theme of the Audubon Neighborhood Association's Spring Festival, Saturday, May 6, 11 am-4 pm at Audubon Park, 1320 29th Ave. NE. The Mississippi Watershed Management Organization gave the neighborhood a grant to put on the festival, which will provide a look at the river's history and current status. The event will include music, games, food and a beer tent. Volunteers needed to set up and break down; contact deborah@audubonneighborhood.org.

35+ breweries will help the event live up to its name, a silent auction will assist in fundraising, a DJ will provide music, there will be food trucks on-site, and the local breweries and cider houses will compete for a “Best Local Brew” award.

Annual Orchestra Benefit. Saturday, May 13, 7:30 p.m. at the St. Anthony Community Center, 3301 Silver Lake Rd. NE, St. Anthony. Admission $10. Concert, silent auction and dessert. Northeast dog parade
Line up for the Northeast dog parade, Friday, June 23, 5:30-7:30 pm. Show up at Riverplace, 43 Main St. SE, with your costumed canine, or just watch.
