Ukrainian Cuisine cooking classes
The Ukrainian American Community Center, 301 Main St. NE, will have a Ukrainian Cuisine series of cooking classes this spring. The first class, Saturday, Feb. 23, 10 am-noon, will focus on Ukrainian Easter breads.

Pysanky egg decorating workshop
The Ukrainian American Community Center, 301 Main St. NE, will have a five-session Pysanky workshop, Saturdays, March 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30, 1-3 pm. A pysanka is a Ukrainian Easter egg, decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using a wax-resist method.

When John Wilkes Booth assassinated Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War was ending and emotions were high. Killing the President was just part of Booth's plan.
