German dinner and polka mass
St. Boniface Catholic Church, 633 2nd St. NE, will hold is 32nd annual German dinner and polka mass Sunday, Oct. 9. Polka Mass at 11 am, followed by a traditional German dinner featuring jaegerschnitzel (roast pork), potato dumplings, sauerkraut, red cabbage and a special Bavarian dessert from noon to 3 pm or sold out. Music by Rod Cerar Orchestra. $15 for full dinner, $10 for senior/youth 12 and under portion. Take-out also available. Call 612-379-2761 for info or to pre-order.

Community United Methodist Church of Columbia Heights, 950 Gould Ave. (behind Heights Theater), will hold its annual lasagna dinner on Saturday, Oct.15, 4:30-6:30 pm. Again this year, it will be a takeout/drive -thru event and the cost is $15. Dinners need to be preordered by Monday, Oct. 10, by calling 763-202-0796 or by accessing the order form on the church website www.communitymethodistchurch.org. Meat, vegetarian and gluten free choices available. The meal will include lasagna, garlic bread, salad and dessert.

Faith United Methodist, 2708 33rd Ave. NE, will hold its 2nd annual Trunk-or-Treat/Nourish 282 Food Drive on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2-4 pm in the church parking lot. Children will trick-or-treat at parked cars with treats in their trunks. Donations of non-perishable food items encouraged. The Fire and Police Departments have been invited to let children see their vehicles.
