St. Michael’s & St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church invites the public to warm the cold winter nights with made-from-scratch borscht (beet soup) and pyrizhky (home-made bread rolls with a creamy potato filling and lightly fried). Take-out dinners are $12 and include a 16-oz bowl of borscht and two pyrizhky. Additional pyrizhky filled with sauteed sauerkraut, cherries or chocolate available for purchase as well as frozen perogies. Fridays, Dec. 6, 13 and 20 from 4:30-6:30 pm. 505 4th St. NE.

Passiontide Celebration of Beauty and the Arts
Saint Clement Catholic Church, 901 24th Ave. NE, will present a Passiontide Celebration of Beauty and the Arts, Saturday, April 5, 7 pm. This multifaceted celebration features music, art, poetry and a theatrical production. The event includes the sale of traditional Ukrainian decorated Easter eggs, Ukrainian Easter breads and baked goods, Ukrainian hand-crafted artwork and a traditional Ukrainian dinner featuring “shashlik” (Ukrainian shish kabob) and “Varenyky” (Pierogies).
