Emerging artists Yasmin Yassin and Za’Nia Coleman at Public Functionary

John Schoolmeesters will premiere his debut film, "The Life of a Painting (2023)" in the same studio where the film was shot. The short documentary film, presented by Shallow Seas Media, follows an emerging artist throughout the creation of a single painting over the course of two years. The Northrup King Building begins the season with a September Northrup King Night–a seasonal open studio event offering visitors four hours to explore four floors of art studios, fun boutiques and unique local businesses. Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair will be held at Boom Island Park, 724 Sibley St. NE, on Saturday, Sept. 23 and Sunday, Sept. 24 for a fall event celebrating handmade items. This free and family-friendly event will feature more than 100 artisans, food trucks, and more, from 10 am-5 pm each day.

A study of all things lunar: from her immutable cycles and their effects to the plants and creatures who bask in her light. Using haptics and nonlanguage communication, with her show, "Contemplations in Patterns and Textures," Kelly Jean Ohl exhibits large intricately carved ceramic pieces that provide a unique sensory experience.
