The exhibition, titled "Your Hands Were Making Artifacts In The Corners Of My Mind," will feature works from 22 artists who are current residents in the PF Studios program. An Art Renewal Center (ARC) Associate Living Master, Charles Gilbert Kapsner is known for his diverse repertoire, particularly his thought-provoking, Vanitas-style still life paintings. His works include finely developed charcoal drawings, oil portraits and a creative blend of beautiful imagery accessible to all. In conjunction with the five-year anniversary of the PF Studios program, Public Functionary will release a commemorative book. This 150-page volume documents the program's journey, featuring profiles of 35 PF Studios artists, essays by Taylor Jasper, Leslie Barlow, Shana Kaplow and Tricia Heuring, and behind-the-scenes insights into the program's development. Responding to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Piotr Szyhalski began drawing Labor Camp Reports once again. Much like the COVID-19: Labor Camp Report series from 2020, this new and ongoing body of work serves as a way of witnessing and recording the experience of “extreme historical phenomenon” unfolding in real time. Public Functionary, Studio 233 in the Northrup King Building, presents "Biological Combinations," new work by Savannah Tines, inviting viewers to explore the intersections of past, present and future forms of life. By combining found objects and obsolete technologies with traditional mediums, Tines constructs a terrestrial landscape that simulates an immersive, organic and kinetic experience.
