Loretta Bebeau: “What Comes Around”
Loretta Bebeau has had a studio in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District for 20 years, but she and her art have traveled around the state. Feb. 29-March 31, she'll have an exhibit at the Hopkins Center for the Arts, 1111 Main St. The exhibition features paintings, drawings and collages spanning from her early work to her current practice. A recurring theme is the importance of health across human cultures, as well as her own personal challenge of hearing loss.

“Blood Memory” at Public Functionary
"Blood Memory" ruptures the representation of the altar (typically following religion or ritual), focusing instead on the intuitive while still creating spells that honor ancestors and homelands. Using a variety of media – collage, photography, everyday objects and audio – Candida Gonzalez creates five installations that connect to the spaciousness of memorialization. Drawn from her experiences during the global pandemic lockdown of COVID-19, artist Carolyn Halliday hopes to summon awareness of the increased clarity of the sky because of reduced commuter traffic. Secondly, Halliday’s work will remind us of the smoky gray horizon we endured during the summer of 2023 caused by rampant forest fires. Critique Cabaret
Looking for a place to share your work? A place to get constructive feedback from an engaged audience? Art to Change the World’s Critique Cabaret will feature poetry, paintings, books, multimedia pieces. They can all be a part of this grand cabaret, so come one come all. “A Connection To Picasso – But Not Too Close”
This is the 50-year anniversary of the death of Picasso. There are worldwide events planned. David Feinberg and Holly Tappen’s new art show explores the methods, techniques and motifs found in Picasso’s abstract expressionism. The art show will be at Ambiente Gallerie, 505 1st Ave. NE, Suite 1, in May and June.
