Tulley Kline has since pulled out of the race and thrown his support to Elliott Payne.
Elliott Payne and wife Lindsay first came to Northeast in 2005. He changed careers after earning a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota, then a MBA. As a consultant for the City of Minneapolis, he is in the Office of Performance and Innovation. “My biggest through-line is equity,” he said, and was inspired to run following the death of George Floyd. “When the world looked to the Minneapolis City Council for moral leadership, our council member was simply absent when we needed him most.”
“The people of Ward 1 — including Black residents, like me — need a City Council representative who’s willing to take courageous action when it counts.”
