The Northeast Minneapolis Arts District has maintained a longstanding and vibrant relationship with the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and its Arts@MSP program. Arts@MSP brings both permanent and rotating exhibitions to the airport, offering travelers an opportunity to experience local art as they move through the terminals.
The current exhibition, “Connections,” which runs through December 1, celebrates the creative energy of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District by showcasing the work of 67 Arts District artists. It is curated by Minneapolis artists Gordon Coons, Silent Fox and Karlee Holets, with additional support from Program Manager Lisa McDaniel. The show is a representation of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District’s artistic talent. The exhibition is housed in five display cases in Terminal 1’s Thomson Reuters Concourse C Art Gallery and is accessible exclusively to ticketed passengers.
The Arts District is honored to once again highlight the talent to a global audience traveling through MSP. Past exhibitions have been met with enthusiasm and strong engagement. According to airport analytics, between June 8 and November 17, 2022, more than 113,000 visitors spent over five minutes in the gallery viewing the “Chroma: A Spectrum of Beauty” show. Remarkably, over 18,000 guests spent more than 30 minutes viewing the artwork.
The Northeast Minneapolis Arts District looks forward to building upon its relationship with the Arts@MSP program and continuing to share the vibrant culture of the community with the traveling public.
