New eatery opening in NE
Brandon Witzel, Jill Mortensen and Kay Phillips have purchased the building at 200 Lowry Ave. NE. They intend to install a “massive pizza oven” in what they hope will be a “neighborhood bar.” They also own and operate Milly’s Wine Bar & Bistro in the Mill District. A launch date has not been announced.
Brewery reopens
Bauhaus Brew Labs, which shut down on June 27, reopened on August 15. The brewery is now under ownership of ABV Technology, a St. Paul-based company. The program offers a “full-spectrum beverage program” with beer, wine and cocktails.
Recycling grants awarded
Hennepin County recently announced business recycling grants to three area organizations.
Curiouser Foods, 2900 Pentagon Drive, received $3,900 for a dishwasher to be able to offer reusable food serving ware in St. Anthony.
Gastrotruck, a food truck at 2400 University Ave. NE dishing up grain bowls, tacos and other fare with vegan options, was awarded $3,300 to expand reusable food serving ware in Minneapolis. T
Spark-Y, 681 17th Ave. NE, was given $2,800. The nonprofit, which teaches entrepreneurship and sustainability through STEM-based programming, will use the funds to offer reusable food serving ware and food storage containers to reduce single-use disposables.
The county offers free resources and technical assistance for small businesses and nonprofit organizations to start or improve recycling and organics recycling. Northeast Palace sold
Northeast Palace Bar & Grill, 2500 4th St. NE, is under new ownership. Bartenders at the Palace, Ashley Ersfeld and Tony Dehn, along with Ersfeld’s father Stephen, purchased the establishment for $525,000 and are planning a rebrand. The new bar will be called One Last Chance, and it will focus on live music.
Mental health clinic turns one
Vantage Mental Health, 2855 Anthony Ln. S, Suite 201, will celebrate one year in their St. Anthony location on September 1. The nonprofit clinic provides comprehensive mental health therapies, and can be reached at 651-217-1480 or vantagementalhealth.org.
