New location for sushi shop
After a fire forced Momo Sushi to close their doors last year, the restaurant is reopening in a new location. The sushi location is moving to 825 E. Hennepin Ave., the location formerly owned by Beast Barbecue, which shut down in April.
Owner Sonam Nyorie wrote on social media: “There have been so many people reaching out to offer help and support during this journey. Many of our loyal customers even said they would not eat sushi anywhere else until Momo Sushi reopened. Your love, loyalty, and encouragement truly mean the world to us, and we will never forget it.”
The team has said it hopes to open the new location this summer, but no specific date has been announced.
Brewery demolishes patio
56 Brewing, 3055 Columbia Ave. NE, says Xcel Energy is asking it to demolish its outdoor seating area. The patio was built eight years ago on land owned by the energy company. 56 Brewing representatives have made it clear that they know it was built illegally.
Demolition of the patio, as well as the removal of set of outdoor stairs and signage near their parking lot, began on Thursday, June 11.
The brewery has said that demolishing the patio will leave them at a 70-seat deficit.
In a statement, Xcel Energy representatives wrote the patio creates “safety and operational concerns… We appreciate the owners’ collaboration and efforts to return our property to its original condition.”
