Florist relocates
Anita’s Flower Shop opened its doors on April 6. After operating out of the owner’s house since last May, the shop is now located at 208 13th Ave. NE.
Restaurant to expand
Diane’s Place, a Hmong-Asian restaurant at 117 14th Ave. NE, is doubling in size.
An April 7 announcement said the restaurant will expand by 6,000 square feet — a change that brings two private dining rooms, a dining room extension, a grab-and-go café and a 100-seat patio. The restaurant is located in the Food Building.
Chiropractic clinic reopens
Prime Care Chiropractic, 2916 B Pentagon Dr., reopened under new ownership In January. Dr. Joel Anthony, the business’ new owner, wrote that the business is undergoing a transitional period “during this time of new ownership,” but it is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The clinic offers chiropractic care, physiotherapy, therapeutic exercises, rehabilitation exercises and more.
Vehicle crashes into bar
Around 8:00 a.m. on Monday, April 6, a car crashed into Stanley’s Northeast Bar Room, 2500 University Ave. NE. Police said a vehicle traveling on Lowry Avenue NE. “entered the intersection against a solid red light” and struck multiple vehicles around the intersection. The vehicle then hit the building.
The driver sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Photos posted by Stanley’s show a car with a damaged front end as well as extensive damage to the bar’s walls, siding and windows.
The restaurant was temporarily closed but opened at 3 p.m. that afternoon.
Heights launches loan program
Businesses in Columbia Heights can apply to a new forgivable zero-percent-interest microloan program. According to the city, the program will “support business reopenings and stability by providing loan funds for anticipated building expenses such as commercial lease or mortgage payments, commercial utility payments, or commercial structure insurance payments.”
The loan is for up to $10,000, dependent upon the business’s lease or mortgage.
