Home becomes county property
A recent sale of the Twin City Gardens Care Center nursing home, 2309 Hayes St. NE, fell through. Jon Haworth, Keller Williams Realty, said that the buyer and seller couldn’t agree on the price. The buyer had offered $550,000 and payment of delinquent taxes and fines. The seller paid property taxes on the parking lot.
On Aug. 8, Hennepin County took ownership of the building as tax-forfeited property. It will go up for auction in “a couple of months,” Haworth said. It could be sold for $275,000 to $300,000, plus unpaid fines and taxes. He said he still has the building’s blueprints, if buyers are interested. Hennepin County’s website says it may take more than six months from the date of forfeiture for it to sell.
The parking lot could be sold for use as a parking lot or redeveloped. Haworth said 143 different uses could be allowed on the property, including a 12-unit apartment building.
