A candlelight vigil honoring the lives lost in the year since the Russian invasion of Ukraine was held on the evening of Friday, Feb. 24, co-sponsored by the Minnesota Ukrainian Advocacy Committee, the Ukrainian Village Band and the Consulate General of Ukraine in Chicago. A crowd gathered in a parking lot near the bridge. The event included speeches from local leaders calling for continued solidarity and support of Ukraine, the Ukrainian national anthem, and a march across Lowry Avenue Bridge.
