Members of the U of M Marching Band lead local leaders and community members on a march across the Stone Arch Bridge from downtown Minneapolis to the historic St. Anthony Main area. Wet weather did not deter those wanting to officially celebrate the reopening on the morning of Saturday August 9. MnDOT hosted the free event with interactive activities. Bridge repair began in spring 2024. According to MnDOT, crews repaired and replaced stones, replaced the mortar on the entire bridge and made other repairs. Construction was completed in July 2025 ahead of schedule, when Governor Tim Walz and other officials held an initial opening. (Luis de Leon)
