Another Northeast landmark is set to undergo a change. On Dec. 18, 2019, the Aaron Carlson Company sold the building that has housed its business since the 1890s. Hempel Cos. will spend $15 million on a restoration project that will convert the millwork factory at 1505 Central Avenue NE into creative office space, and restaurant, brewery, distillery or entertainment spaces. Office tenants will be the primary focus, according to Ben Krsnak, Hempel’s executive vice president of leasing. Aaron Carlson will continue to operate in the building for the next three to six months Krsnak told Finance & Commerce. Aaron Carlson, which makes high-end architectural woodwork, worked on the restoration of the Minnesota State Capitol. Company officials were not available for comment. …more to come
