In 1974, Don Herlofsky and other Edison graduates got together for a game of golf. It became an annual event, with a name, the Nordeast Invitational. On Saturday, Sept. 14, 120 golfers gathered at Columbia Golf Course for the tournament’s 50th anniversary, now a family affair that includes third and fourth generations. A light mist fell, and chestnuts plopped onto the driveway next to the club house as players arrived for the 8 a.m. shotgun start. As they got into their golf carts, players were told to “play fast.” A picnic lunch catered by Lorri Herlofsky concluded the event.
