EMERGE Open Houses
EMERGE, a workforce and community development nonprofit, will host two open houses Saturday, April 26, 11 am-3 pm. Second Chance Recycling, 1179 15th Ave. SE, will provide tours to show how mattresses are deconstructed and 90% of the materials sent out to become new products. Each year, Second Chance recycles 90,000 mattresses, while providing transitional jobs to people with barriers to employment. Friday, May 2, 7-9 pm. This immersive and interactive exhibition celebrates the legacy of the California Building, from the exodus of the downtown art scene to NE Minneapolis starting in 1991. The California Building became the first factory in Northeast Minneapolis dedicated entirely to workspace for artists.
