The National Wildlife Federation’s Mayors’ Monarch Pledge encourages communities to create habitats for the monarch butterfly and other pollinators and educate residents about how to make a difference. As part of the Monarch Pledge, the City of Columbia Heights will hold a Monarch Festival on Thursday, Aug. 14, 4-7 pm at Huset Park, 3965 Jefferson St. NE, with activities and entertainment celebrating pollinators.

Polish Picnic open to the community is on Aug. 16, 12-6 pm at Huset Park West, 530 Mill St. NE, There will be Polish food for purchase, Dolina Polish Folk Dancers, music provided by Craig Ebel Polka Band and Joe Macko on accordion. Children and adult crafts, Polish movies and more.
