SUMMARY:Northeast Calendar call for art
DESCRIPTION:The call for art is open for the 2022 Northeast Calendar\, coordinated by the Northeast CDC d/b/a Minneapolis Arts District. Images are sought that represent Northeast in various ways and seasons. The deadline is Sunday\, Sept. 12. \nAll art mediums are welcome\, submitted through print-ready digital images. Artists/photographers are invited to include brief background on what inspired the image and where in Northeast it was made. \n“We are looking for active\, colorful\, beautiful and/or funny images that bring cheer and a feeling of togetherness\, community\, even healing\,” organizers said in a news release. \nImages will be chosen for the months\, each for $200\, and one for the cover\, $400. Selection will be made by judges not on the arts district board. The calendar will be designed by graphic artist Leann Johnson. DESCRIPTION:CIRCA Gallery debuts lately ii\, the second of CIRCA’s bi-annual group shows featuring work from their roster of artists. DESCRIPTION:“Immersive Van Gogh” takes the Dutch artist’s paintings and projects them on the floors\, walls\, and ceilings at Lighthouse Minneapolis\, 1515 Central Avenue NE. Exhibit visitors will be immersed in 60\,600 frames of video\, 90\,000\,000 pixels\, and 500\,000+ cubic feet of projections\, and curated selections from Van Gogh’s 2000+ lifetime catalog of masterpieces. Designed and conceived by Massimiliano Siccardi\, with soundtrack by Luca Longobardi\, who both pioneered immersive digital art experiences in France. Show runs through Oct. 31. Times change weekly. SUMMARY:Hold Your Hand Out in the Dark
DESCRIPTION:Dreamsong\, a new contemporary art gallery at 1237 4th St NE\, presents “Hold Your Hand Out in the Dark\,” works by Lee Noble\, through Oct. 2; opening reception Aug. 19\, 5-8 pm. Littered with masked intruders\, retrospectively poetic B-movie titles\, and eerily magnified CCTV footage\, transitory figures appear in Lee Noble’s paintings like missing person posters on a coin laundromat’s bulletin board.  Born in Nashville\, Tenn.\, to a nurse and a songwriter\, he is currently based in Minneapolis where he received his MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2020.
