Valley View collecting donated shoes
The Valley View Elementary Parent Teacher Organization in Columbia Heights is collecting new and used shoes in wearable condition, through March 8. Donated shoes are repurposed through micro-enterprises in developing countries, and each pair of shoes earns funds for Valley View Elementary School.

Film Festival at Casket Cinema
On Thursday, Feb. 7, the 56th Annual Ann Arbor Film Festival tour will stop at Casket Cinema, in the studio of Mark Wojahn, Northwestern Casket Building, 681 17th Ave. NE, #145, doors at 7:30 pm, films at 8 pm. The screening will include 75 minutes of experimental and animated works.

Strike Theater, 824 18th Ave. NE, is having a Strike This! Improv to Sketch Show in February. The theater took a group of improvisers and had them write sketches based upon scenes they created together. The show consists of nine comedic sketches. Show dates are Feb. 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16 at 7:30 pm.
