DESCRIPTION:East Side Neighborhood Services\, 1700 Second St. NE\, offers the following classes and activities. Info: esns.org or 612-787-4063. \nVital Fitness\, Tuesdays\, 10:30-11:30 am\, drop by to join this group that meets weekly in East Side’s gymnasium for a variety of exercises that improve balance\, strength\, and coordination. There is no cost to participate. Info: Gloria\, 612-787-4076. \nA Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns about Falls. Mondays and Wednesdays\, Sept. 10-Oct. 3\, 12:30-2:30 pm\, at the Magnet Senior Center\, 1200 Marquette Ave.\, (free underground parking at the entrance off Alice Rainville Place). A four-week program to help participates maintain independence and improve balance by learning to view falls as controllable\, making changes to reduce fall risk at home\, setting goals for increasing activity\, and exercising to improve strength and balance. Register\, 612-787-4045 or TeamEVA@esns.org. \nIntergenerational Tai Chi\, Thursday\, Sept. 13\, 10-11 am\, in the gymnasium. To mark Intergenerational Month\, the Empowering Vital Aging Project and Northeast Childhood Development Center\, will host this free class to help participant improve coordination and concentration while enhancing balance and flexibility. Pre-school children will join for the first 30 minutes with a focus on improving concentration. The last half of the class will focus on older adults and how Tai Chi improves balance.
